Cook the gourd in a vessel with the required water until done
Heat the oil in a pan
Add mustard seeds, black gram and bengal gram
Allow it to splutter, followed curry leaves and asafoetida
add chopped green chillies and the cooked ridge gourd
stir fry for few minutes by adding salt
serve garnished with coconut
