Instructions
Grind the ingredients to obtain a puree.
Add the puree to the dough
Knead the dough by adding sufficient salt and water.
Divide the dough into balls of equal size and dip them into some flour.
Roll the dough with a rolling pin until the balls resemble thin, round pancakes.
Heat a heavy frying pan, tava or griddle over medium heat and cook each chappathi on both sides.
Serve hot with coconut chutney.
Notes
Variation:
The flavour of the dish can be varied by substituting cumin, pepper and Asafoetida with garlic, ginger and green chilli.
