Cabbage poriyal is a famous side dish from South India where cabbage is tempered with mustard seeds, curry leaves and some lentils. It is finally topped with some freshly grated coconut. It’s kind of comfort food, simple yet delicious!

- 250 gms Cabbage Finely chopped
- 3 tbsp Coconut Grated
- 1 nos Green Chilly Chopped
- ½ tbsp Mustard seeds and split black gram
- 1 Stalk Curry Leaves Fresh
- 1 tbsp Oil Use cold press ground nut oil
- 1 Pinch Asafoetida
- 50 ml Water
- 1 tbsp (As Required) Salt Table salt
Heat the oil in a pan.
Season with mustard seeds, back gram, Asafoetida andcurry leaves.
Add chopped green chilli, followed by finely choppedcabbage.
Add required salt and water.
Close with a lid and cook.
Serve, garnished with coconut.
Note:
The dish also can be prepared by adding ginger paste instead of Asafoetida for a different flavour.
