Rice balls (Kozhukattai)
kozhukattai or kolukattai is a festive South Indian recipe of steamed dumplings made with rice flour dough and stuffed with a filling of coconut . Basically kozhukattai is the South Indian variation of modak made in maharashtra.

Ingredients
- 1 Cup Rice
- 3 tbsp Gingelly oil Cold press oil
- 1 tbsp Mustard seeds and split black gram
- 2 tbsp Bengal gram
- 2 Stalks Curry leaves & coriander leaves Finely Chopped
- 1 Nos Green Chilli chopped
- 1 Nos Onion Chopped
- 4 tbsp Coconut Grated
- 1 tbsp (As Required) Salt Table salt
- 1 Cup ( As Required) Water
Instructions
- Soak rice for one hour
- Grind rice by adding water to obtain a semi solid consistency (like dosa batter)
- Heat the oil in a pan, Add mustard seeds, black gram, Bengal gram, curry leaves followed by the rest of the ingredients, Saute well.
- Cook the batter in a deep frying skillet along with other ingredients to obtain a thick consistency.
- Add pepper powder and a pinch of salt.
- Make balls out of the mixture and steam cook for 10-15 minutes.
- Serve hot with mint or coriander chutney.
