Plantain Pith Kootu
Plantain Pith Kootu is one of the fiber rich kootu. Use Split Green Gram along with the coconut paste. Banana Stem cooked in Green gram and tempered with coconut. It's flavorful, tasty and healthy stew which is a very good accompaniment to Rice and any spicy kuzhambu and Rasam. It is rich in fiber and very good diet for diabetic patients too.

Ingredients
- 100 gms Split Green Gram
- 100 gms Plantain Pith Finely chopped
- 2 Nos Tomatoes Finely chopped
- ¼ tbsp Cumin seeds
- 1 Pinch Asafoetida
- 1 Pinch Turmeric Powder
- 1 No Green Chilli
- 2 tbsp Gingelly oil Cold press oil
- 1 Stalk Curry leaves Fresh
- ½ tbsp Mustard seeds
- ½ tbsp Split Black Gram
- 1 tbsp (As Required) Salt Table salt
- 200 ml Water
Instructions
- Dry-roast green gram until a flavoursome aroma arises.
- Cook the green gram in a vessel with 150 ml of water, Adding a pinch of turmeric powder and few drops of oil.
- Once cooked, remove from the stove and set aside.
- Cook the plantain pit, mix well,adding salt.
- Temper Mustard seeds, black gram,curry leaves, Asafoetida and add to the kootu & Serve hot.
