Beaten Rice Uppuma
Aval Upma is easy to prepare and delicious breakfast snack. It is also famous as Poha Upma in many regions of India and it’s made from flattened rice (beaten rice) which has all goodness of rice.

Ingredients
- 1 Cup Beaten Rice Red Beaten Rice ( Light )
- 3 tbsp Gingelly oil Cold press oil
- 1 Pinch Mustard seeds
- 2 tbsp Bengal gram
- 2 Stalks Curry leaves
- 2 tbsp Coriander Leaves Finely Chopped
- 1 Nos Green chilli Chopped
- 1 Nos Onion Chopped
- 50 gms Beans Finel chopped
- 100 gms Carrot Grated
- 1 tbsp (As Required) Salt Table salt
- 100 ml (As Required) Water
Instructions
- Clean and wash beaten rice and filter without water.
- Heat the pan, add oil and Saute the rest of the ingredients one after another.
- Add cut beans, carrot, salt and little water, cook for five minutes.
- Add beaten rice on simmer mode for 10 mins.
- Serve garnished with coriander leaves.
Notes
Variation:
The upma can also be made more appeasing by adding roasted ground nuts. Varying flavours can be obtained by adding parsely / celery.
Various types of beaten rice like Red rice/ Brown rice/ White rice are available in the market with varying thickness, even millet flakes and wheat germ can be used to prepare the upma in the same method.
